FZ-55 TOUGHBOOK Media Bay
The semi rugged Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 55 laptop comes with a large assortment of different user installable upgrades in the form of the Panasonic xPAK system (read our blog about the complete FZ-55 xPAK selection here.) The media bay expansion slot on the FZ-55 is located on the left side of the laptop and can feature some of the larger xPAK upgrades. Panasonic TOUGHBOOK FZ-55 DVD xPAK Step by Step Pictures
Step 1. Turn the FZ-55 so the bottom chassis is oriented up and the handle is faced towards the user.
Step 2. Locate the media bay expansion slot lock Labeled P2
Step 3. Slide the lock towards the FZ-55 handle. and simultaneously slide the media bay dummy block out of the expansion slot.
Step 4. Fully remove the media bay dummy block.
Step 5. Insert DVD drive with slotted side orientated towards the FZ-55 handle and flat side towards the rear of the laptop.
Step 6. Once fully inserted the locking latch will audibly click, indicating a good installation.
OPTIONALLY, a security screw can be installed into the screw slot, locking the DVD xPAK into the FZ-55.
