Getac S510 Rugged Laptop

Getac S510 Rugged Laptop

Getac Semi Rugged Laptop Overview

Getac's semi rugged class of laptops and tablets fits a large target audience requirements. While not quite as rugged and durable as some other Getac laptops like the B360, the semi rugged Getac laptops are lighter and more portable while also typically fitting a more restricted budget. Some use case scenarios - such as mounting a laptop in a vehicle - do not require ultra rugged durability but need more durable specs than a consumer grade laptop. The lower IP (Ingress Protection) rating of a semi rugged laptop (the Getac S510 features an IP53 rating) means that the laptop is not intended for use in the elements but will still be more resistant to moisture and dust than any consumer grade laptop. Getac has built their semi rugged laptops (like the S510) with a 3 foot drop rating and made it resistant to vibrations, which makes this line of computers ideal for in-vehicle use or jobs that are constantly on the move.

With a 15.6 inch display, the S510 laptop features one of the largest displays in the rugged industry. Internal components have been also upgraded across the board between the S410 to the S510. The S410 runs on Intel Core i5 and i7 13th generation processors while the S510 has been upgraded to the Intel Core Ultra series. With an integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit), the S510 laptop has been future proofed to handle AI and machine learning tasks and programs. Upgrades to the wireless capabilities on the S510 (Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 compared to the S410 Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3) allow it to access a broader range of network as well as have faster upload and download speeds.
