FZ-40 Tried and True Design
With one of the first rugged laptop designs - the CF-25 released in 1996 - Panasonic set the standard for rugged clamshell style devices. Intuitive to use, and one of the most durable form factors on the market, the fully rugged clamshell laptop is still one of the most popular models in the rugged industry to date. The Panasonic FZ-40 builds on decades of research and development, as well as industry feedback, to provide one of the most robust and durable laptops on the market. Replacing it's predecessor, the hugely popular CF-31, the FZ-40 is instantly recognizable with the famous TOUGHBOOK magnesium alloy case and rugged durability.

User installable xPAK upgrades are plug and play and can provide optional hardware features to the FZ-40 such as a barcode scanner, fingerprint reader, smart card reader, DVD drive, Blu-Ray drive, and additional interface ports. Wireless signals on the FZ-40 are no less robust with standard Wi-Fi 7 BE200 and Bluetooth v. 5.3 but also optional dedicated GPS (u-blox NEO-M9N), 5G EM9190 and 4G LTE EM7690. While the FZ-40 features a standard RGB color selectable emissive backlit keyboard, the rugged laptop can also come with a fully sealed membrane backlit rubber keyboard for added ingress protection.
