The Getac K120 tablet is a fully rugged grade 12.5 inch tablet. This 2 in 1 tablet is great for the user who wants the flexibility between a traditional rugged tablet device but also with a keyboard that can click in to give a fully functioning clamshell laptop style. As of writing this blog, the Getac K120 is on its 3rd generation of product (G3). The K120 can be compared and is a direct competitor to the Panasonic CF-33 TOUGHBOOK.
Getac K120 Processor
The K120 uses the 13th generation Intel i5 or i7 processor. This is a pretty current processor but some product currently made by Getac and competitors using the newer 14th gen “Ultra” processor type. The 13th gen i5 or i7 can handle most modern programs and task loads and is a robust processor family.
Getac K120 Graphics
There is no dedicated graphics card available for the K120 rugged tablet but there is an intel Iris X integrated graphics available. This is a next level integrated graphics chip. While it is not ideal for heavy graphics like gaming or video editing, it is capable of rendering information quickly and gives a satisfying overall lift to system performance. Typically rugged computers like the K120 prioritize durability and other features over heavy performance. While a rugged tablet is an ideal computing solution for a challenging environment, it is less optimized for classic graphically intense programs.
Getac K120 Display
The 12.5” K120 tablet has a capacitive multi touch screen that is great for pinch and zoom. Fully readable outdoors with a 1,200 NIT screen, the K120 display is perfect for outdoor and in-vehicle use. Display brightness is typically not a feature that is important with consumer grade products but mission critical for mobile computers that are used in-field.
Getac K120 Storage & Memory
The K120 tablet is unique in that the user has model options that include both 32GB and also 64GB of RAM. Most rugged tablets have a ceiling limitation of 32GB RAM. Most if not all rugged tablets have the RAM soldered onto the main board so whatever you buy is what you have and not able to be upgraded after manufacturing! The K120 comes with a base 256GB SSD drive and can be ordered from Getac or upgraded to 2TB.
Getac K120 Keyboard
There is a proprietary keyboard you can purchase that will snap on to the K120 and give you the full feel of a clamshell laptop. One of the most attractive features of the rugged 2-in-1 computer line is the ability to function both as a rugged tablet while seamlessly transitioning to a rugged laptop when needed. Most K120 configurations have the keyboard set as optional to save on user cost who don't have a requirement for a keyboard and just want the rugged tablet.
Getac K120 Expansion Slot
Able to be configured at order, the K120 can have an optional 1D/2D barcode scanner, Serial port, extra USB3.2 Type-A, or HDMI 2.0. This expansion slot allow the K120 to be customized to numerous task requirements and ensures a versatile and tailored user experience.
Getac K120 I/O Interfaces
The K120 tablet has numerous interfaces and ports on the tablet itself including a 5MP Webcam, 8MP rear camera with auto focus, standard 3.5mm Audio in / out, USB 3.2 Type-A, Thunderbolt 4 Type-C, LAN (RJ-45), docking connector, and Dual SIM, and Antenna pass through for GPS, WWAN (Cellular) and WLAN (WiFi). There is an optional DC in Jack and MIcroSD that can be integrated but must be included in the K120 configuration from the Getac factory.
Getac K120 Security
The K120 offers several security features and options. The model includes TPM 2.0, the Kensington lock capability, and can use the 5MP front camera as a Windows Hello authentication device. There are also option features that can be added like the Intel VpRo, Smart card reader, HF RFID reader, and Finger Print reader. Getac K120 rugged tablets are also completely compatible with Absolute BIOS security.
Getac K120 Power Supply
This laptop can be charged by a standard AC adapter or by using a USB-C AC adapter. You want to use a minimum of 65W in either application. The K120 has two 2040 mAh batteries. There is an optional high capacity battery that is 3,450 mAh.
Getac K120 Warranty
Since the K120 is a fully rugged model it includes the Getac “Bumper-to-Bumper” warranty. Other competitors like Panasonic charge additional for the warranty.
