Toughbook Standard Warranty
Typical warranty coverage for a new Toughbook - both rugged laptop PC and tablet PC - is 3 years from the date of purchase. Because of the renewable nature of batteries and the longevity of the unit is based on number of life cycles run, the warranty on the batteries supplied with a Toughbook is 1 year. Since a Toughbook often times needs to be manufactured once a customer has submitted their required specifications, the warranty start date is an important distinction. Once the computer is actually shipped to the customer and invoiced, the warranty is active and remains active for a period of 3 years. The warranty covers any manufacturer defects for the duration of the allotted 3 years. When a warranty is needing to be activated, Panasonic requires the full model and serial number of the computer as well as potentially documented proof of the purchase date. Once the Toughbook warranty has been initiated, Panasonic takes care of overnight shipment both from and back to the customer, as well as providing packaging materials if needed. All manufacturer defects are covered under the warranty and Panasonic will repair or replace anything, up to and including the motherboard or the entire computer. Toughbook hardware repairs are typically performed within a short time period and turned around inside of a few days. In rare circumstances, parts for the repair of the rugged computer may be on back order and not in immediate stock thereby delaying the repair process. The 3 year standard warranty on a Toughbook has options to be extended to 4 or 5 years at time of purchase.
Toughbook Protection Plus Warranty
As the most popular warranty upgrade, the Toughbook Protection Plus warranty is a great add on to protect the investment made into a Toughbook computer. Available in 3, 4 or 5 year increments, the Protection Plus Warranty covers most accidental damage in addition to any manufacturer defects. Notable exceptions to the coverage of this warranty would be intentional damage or damage caused by fire, loss, improper maintenance or theft. The Protection Plus warranty is a great option to give peace of mind on a fleet of Toughbooks that see regular use and high potential for accidental breakage. Panasonic has created select configurations of FZ-55, FZ-40, FZ-G2 and CF-33 Toughbooks with the Protection Plus Warranty as well as other select services included by default. These bundle skus are targeted towards organizations -particularly in public safety- that want to ensure that their fleet of computers will be guaranteed to be up and running for the duration of their lifecycle regardless of how hard they are treated by users and the environment.
Toughbook Ultimate Care Warranty
The ultimate tier of protection for a Toughbook, the Ultimate Care Warranty is truly a bumper to bumper damage protection. Available for the same 3, 4 or 5 year increments as the protection plus warranty, the Ultimate Care Warranty covers everything that the protection plus warranty does and in addition covers fire, theft and cosmetic damage or wear and tear. The only thing that is not covered under the Toughbook Ultimate Care Warranty is intentional damage by the user.
Panasonic Parts Commitment
With all Toughbook and Toughbook Warranty purchases, Panasonic has guaranteed parts and support for the life of the purchase. Even when Toughbook models or Toughbook parts get discontinued and no longer manufactured, Panasonic has committed to a minimum of 5 years of parts support. The longest Toughbook warranty issued is for a period of 5 years, this parts-on-hand commitment translates to products being fully supported and able to be repaired for the duration of their life cycle.
