Vehicle Mounting Equipment
Mounting rugged computers and technology in vehicles can come in many forms. Matching the immense variety of needs and mounting locations, mounting equipment can be customized to fit a user's requirements, vehicle, and computer (or other tech.) Placing technology such as rugged computers, rugged tablets, printers, scanners, siren or light controls etc. in a vehicle is typically accomplished the most efficiently by replacing the OEM vehicle console with a purpose built console. Typically console replacement is avoided or not considered because of the perceived complexity of the project. The leading manufacturers of replacement vehicle consoles - Havis and Gamber Johnson - have designed catalogs of consoles purposed built for vehicle make, model and year that stream line and simplify install.

Vehicle Consoles Are Easy
While universal and generic consoles are of course available, vehicle specific consoles are as easy to install as a passenger side mount pedestal system. Typically utilizing the same installation mount points as the OEM console, a Gamber Johnson or Havis vehicle specific console more often than not doesn't require drilling to install. Seamlessly replacing the OEM vehicle console, a replacement console offers a mounting foundation for a number of technology interfaces. Designed primarily to convert a civilian vehicle into a utilitarian workspace, a Gamber Johnson or Havis console offers mounting space for radios, siren, light or other vehicle controls while providing a stable platform for rugged computer mounting. Bringing all required rugged tech into reach of the driver, vehicle consoles allow for a police officer or other front line or in-field operator to utilize the vehicle workspace efficiently and safely. Gamber Johnson and Havis both include equipment specific faceplates with a console purchase that allows for customizing the console to mount the myriad of different controller head, radios, siren and light controls etc. that a user might need. At time of a console purchase, a customer just needs to specify the make and model of equipment to be mounted in the console and Rugged or Die will provide the correct equipment bracket (Havis) or faceplate (Gamber Johnson) for mounting.
Beyond Vehicle Consoles
Vehicle specific consoles are easy to mount in a vehicle and many can come as a kit with extra equipment. A console as a mounting location for vehicle controls is only the beginning of the utility that can be offered. Additional equipment added to a console can include cupholders, rugged computer mounts and motion attachments, mobile printer mounts, armrests, lock boxes and storage trays. Rounding out the console and customizing it to the user needs creates a workspace completely tailored to the company's, operator's or department's needs.
Considering the right console for your vehicle make, model and year is only the first step in determining the correct console package for your needs. Rugged or Die sales reps are happy to provide a consultation and help develop a complete equipment package for your entire vehicle workspace.
